Visiting Bangkok: What Tourists Should Know
Bangkok remains the most accessible city in Southeast Asia for cannabis-curious travelers — but "accessible" in 2026 looks different than it did during the open-market years of 2022–2025. Here's the practical picture.
You'll need a prescription
Since June 2025, buying cannabis flower in Thailand legally requires a PT 33 prescription from a licensed practitioner. For tourists, this is more straightforward than it sounds: clinics set up specifically for visitors operate in most tourist-heavy neighborhoods, the consultation is typically brief, and a passport is usually all the documentation needed. Expect the process to take under an hour from walk-in to prescription in hand.
Where the dispensaries are
Silom — where Euphoria is located — and Sukhumvit are Bangkok's two densest cannabis neighborhoods, both well served by BTS Skytrain stations and both accustomed to English-speaking visitors. Expect a wide range of atmospheres, from quick-service storefronts to lounges built for lingering.
Etiquette that isn't obvious to first-timers
- Carry your passport and your PT 33 prescription together — you may be asked for both.
- Public consumption is restricted in many areas; ask staff where it's actually permitted before assuming a public space is fine.
- Never attempt to bring cannabis products across an international border, even to a country where cannabis is legal — this is treated as a serious criminal matter in Thailand.
- Shops can't legally advertise pricing or promotions publicly, including on social media — don't expect to see a menu with prices before you arrive in person.
What a good visit looks like
Bring your ID, come with questions rather than expectations, and treat the visit as a conversation with staff rather than a transaction. The best dispensaries — including, we'd like to think, our own — are set up for exactly that kind of visit.
